Chemical Nomenclature
Name the first element using the correct prefix. Never use the prefix mono- with the first element. Name the second element using the correct prefix. If the prefix ends in an "a" and the second element is oxygen, omit the "a" of the prefix.
CO is carbon monoxide. P2O5 is diphosphorus pentoxide.
