CIS 143: Introduction to Database Systems
Course Description
Provides students with a comprehensive introduction to database concepts. Primary focus is on the relational model of database management and querying databases using Structured Query Language (SQL). Existing relational databases are examined and manipulated, and new relational databases are created. Recommended preparation: CAS 125, CAS 160 or CIS 101 or equivalent experience.

- Access to a computer running Microsoft Access 2000, Microsoft Access 2002, Microsoft Access 2003, or Microsoft Access 2007, and access to a licensed or free trial version of one other relational database management system (DB2, Microsoft SQL Server or SQL Server Express, MySQL, or Oracle). Harper lab I 205 has computers and software that may be configured as necessary for this course.
