NET 141: Linux Administration
Course Description
Provides students with knowledge and hands-on experience in installation, using utilities on the command line and using Graphical User Interface, using programming tools, editing text files and simple shell scripting. Also provides an understanding of the Linux kernel, introductory networking concepts, and file systems.

Required Materials
- Getting Started with Linux: Novell's Guide to CompTIA's Linux+ – Course Technology – ISBN 10: 1-4188-3730-X ISBN 13: 978-1-4188-3730-3
- Internet access and a Harper Blackboard account.
- A computer that can be partitioned, reformatted, etc. As an alternative, you can use a PC with VMWare to create virtual machines for many of the lab exercises. Harper lab I 205 has computers and software that may be configured as necessary for this course.
