NET 231: Windows Scripting

Course Description

Provides students with hands-on experience scripting the Windows environment.  Topics include Windows Script Host, VBScript, variables and arrays, conditional logic, procedures, file and data access, error handling, and registry settings.  A variety of administrative scripts are created throughout the course. Recommended preparation: NET 112 and NET 121 or equivalent experience.

  11. Working with Built-In VBScript Objects
  12. Combining Different Scripting Languages
  13. WSH Administrative Scripting

Required Materials

  • Microsoft WSH and VBScript Programming for the Absolute Beginner, Second Edition – Course Technology – ISBN-10: 1592007317  ISBN-13: 9781592007318
  • Internet access and a Harper Blackboard account.
  • A computer running Windows that you can control and script as administrator.  As an alternative, you can use a PC with VMWare to create virtual machines for many of the lab exercises.  Harper lab I 205 has computers and software that may be configured as necessary for this course.
