Harper College’s Interior Design program offers state of the art curriculum produced by experienced and dedicated design professionals. The Interior Design Faculty is comprised of practicing designers who bring real-life experiences into the classroom. Our program is suited to both the complete beginner and for those with some basic knowledge of design
We have maintained our accreditation from the National Kitchen and Bath Association since 1997. As an accredited program, our students reap the benefits of national and regional affiliations.
The curriculum has a focus on technical aspects of design such as space planning, developing and learning to read architectural blueprints and drafting. The coursework involves more than learning how to decorate a space. Students interested in decorating only should look into some of the correspondence or Internet based home study programs. Students wishing to become Interior Designers need to complete an Associate or Bachelor degree so they can become registered or licensed designers. Full time work experience is also required before they sit for the registration exam.
