Welcome to World Languages!
Welcome to the Department of World Languages. As we move into the 21st century it is essential that we are able to communicate effectively in more than one language. Not only should we be able to speak, listen, read, and write other languages, but we should also have a good understanding of the cultures in which the languages are spoken.
The Department of World Languages offers a variety of courses in different languages and provides international experiences inside and outside the classroom. We are a part of the Liberal Arts division and are located in the L Building of Harper College main campus.
Our department offers different levels of transferable courses in a variety of languages. French, German, and Spanish are taught in a six course sequence. Courses in literature, composition, and culture are available in French, German, and Spanish. Spanish offerings also include professional courses. Chinese and Japanese are taught at the beginning and intermediate levels.
