Courses Taught

Beginning Spanish (101) through Introduction to Literature (SPA 210-web class)

I also offer Independent Study classes to students who have completed the above courses and would like to improve/continue with Spanish.

Personal Statement

I am Cuban-American. As a complete bilingual, I have a unique ability to help students process language skills. I believe language learning is an adventure. The classroom should be a place where everyone learns to communicate from the first. I encourage all of my students to "forget" that they are in class and to become a vital part of the community. The most important part of learning a language is to relax, learn to laugh at your mistakes (and learn from them) and to "jump in" to the language.

My mission is to prepare all of my students to enter the world of Spanish-speakers, be it here or abroad. My goal is to share my culture and bring everyone to an understanding of who Hispanics are and how we think! How do I do this? Well, by immersing students in the music, food and history of both Latin America and Spain!
