I have had the extraordinary opportunity to teach French at Harper for a considerable amount of time. My teaching experience comprises all levels of French language courses including Conversation and Introduction to Literature. I thoroughly enjoy the classroom experience, especially the interaction with students. I am always thrilled to observe my students’ progress as they journey from one level to another, acquire language proficiency, perfect their command of grammar and refine their understanding of culture. I am a strong believer in the natural approach to language learning, which emphasizes communication. I encourage active learning and promote involvement on the part of everyone in the classroom.
Since I have lived in France, studied at the University of Grenoble and the Sorbonne in Paris and traveled throughout Europe, I have many a story to tell. Sharing French culture and my love of French with my students gives me great joy and purpose. Whenever possible, I provide my students with cultural opportunities through the arts: theatrical and musical performances, film, excursions to the Chicago Art Institute, cuisine (which includes biweekly meetings/lunches or “pause café” & informal conversation of la Table Française). Through language and cultural development, my intent is to enable my students to succeed in a global society as well-rounded and responsible world citizens.
