An experiment was performed as described on the previous page. After an appropraite amount of time, the colelction tube was removed from the cylinder and the stopwatch stopped. The results are shown below.
The graduated cylinder reads 5.56 ml. The stopwatch reads 11 minutes and 7.02 seconds. To calculate the rate of oxygen formation the number of ml of oxygen collected is divided by the time in seconds. In this experiment the rate was 0.00833 ml / sec.
