Permanganate/Reducing Agent

MnO4- + 5 Fe+2 + 8 H+ Mn+2 + 5 Fe+3 + 4 H2O
or
MnO4- + 2.5 C2H2O4 + 3 H+ Mn+2 + 5 CO2 + 4 H2O

In each experiment below, 10 mls of 0.005 M potassium permanganate (KMnO4) is placed in a test tube and 5 mls of 0.5 M reducing agent is added (these solutions both contain 1 M in sulfuric acid as well). A set of eight pictures is shown for each reaction. The first test tube in each set of pictures contains the permanganate solution by itself. The other test tubes contain the permanganate solution and the reducing agent, which is either pale yellow (Fe+3) or colorless (C2H2O4). The numbers under the test tubes indicate the number of elapsed seconds.
