Identification of Chemicals in Solution




In this activity you will perform several experiments which involve mixing a series of solutions. First you will mix solutions of known composition and observe the reactions that occur. Using these observations you will then examine a set of unknown solutions and be asked to identify the components of each solution. This experiment assumes that you are able to name simple inorganic compounds. If necessary you should review chemical nomenclature before performing the experiment.

The experiment is composed of four parts (background, prelab, experiment, postlab) that should be completed in the order listed below.
