2014
- 3/14, Faculty Senate elections coordinated. DREAM member elected as Grievance Officer and two allies, as Vice President and as Secretary.
- 5/14, NCORE Professional Development funds were awarded to two DREAM members and three allies to attend the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity.
- 8/14, Inaugural cohort (English and Math faculty) of Harper’s Faculty Fellows Program, a new initiative aimed at having a workforce that more closely resembles the racial and ethnic makeup of our community is launched. The program is the result of the recommendations that came out of the diversity and inclusion taskforce.
- 8/14 Three of the Five Criterion used for HLC Reaccreditation led by DREAM members.
Summer 2013, NCORE Professional Development Award Winners
Lidia Omori (Academic Enrichment and Engagement Faculty) and Jose Vital (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Faculty) awarded the first Professional Development award to attend the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity.
2/15/13, Professional Development. A Harper student panel addressing the concerns that impact their academic goals and ways that we can help them to feel welcomed and supported.
January 21, 2013: Daily Herald, “Speakers, music honor the life of Dr. King,” a Martin Luther King Jr. breakfast in Hoffman Estates featuring Harper Assistant Professor DuBoi McCarty as the lead speaker.
Summer, 2012, Presidential Diversity and Inclusion Taskforce Created
- Examine the current attitudes and beliefs across Employee communities of Harper related to race, equity and inclusion --specifically, to engage the College in an institutional survey on diversity, equity and inclusion, and report the findings of the survey to the president;
- Examine the best practices of the most recent recipients of the "College Equity Award" of the American Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) or other institutional models and make recommendations to the president regarding programs the College should engage to improve the awareness, understanding, inclusion and celebration of a diverse community; and
- Recommend to the President the desired goal for an Institutional Effectiveness Measure on Diversity, and outline a plan, timeline and budget for achieving that goal.

5/12, DREAM Executive Committee attends NCORE (National Conference on Race and Ethnicity) in New York City to learn about how to help Harper College increase employee diversity and help Harper be a welcoming place for all.

10/8/10 DREAM Logo created by Graphics Arts students during the summer and tag lines discussed and voted on. ”Inspiring a Vision for the Future” is the winning tag line. Diversity Brochure discussed and input provided to the Diversity Committee. DREAM organizational structure, roles and responsibilities and what's next for the mentoring program discussed.
9/2010, InsideHarper, Living Our Mission, DREAM
During Orientation Week, the Harper Diversity Committee and the Diverse Relationships Engaged in Affirming Multiculturalism, or DREAM Affinity Group sponsored a meet and greet to share information about a new mentoring program for diverse second year faculty.
